Commissioned by James Dickson in 1761, Ednam House was built by the famous architect James Nisbet, whose work also includes Paxton House, only ½ hour from Kelso. Although the building has been extended through the years, the original ceillings, woodwork and fireplace still remain and are truly maginficent.
The Cross Keys Hotel is superbly situated in the heart of Kelso's picturesque French-style cobbled square. The present hotel was built in 1769, but in other forms a Cross Keys hotel has occupied this site since the earliest days of Scottish coaching inns. Recently modernised throughout to the very highest standard, the Cross Keys today provides a warm and friendly welcome to its guests and excellent service from attentive, courteous staff.
